A Master’s programme enables you to gain advanced knowledge and engage in experience-based learning. The specialised knowledge and experience you will gain in a Master’s programme are assets in the job market that help you climb the career ladder. With your Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, you have guaranteed admission to one or more associated Economics and Business Master’s programmes at the UvA. The follow-on Master’s programmes build directly on your Bachelor’s programme.

Accountancy and Control
With a specialisation in Accountancy and Control, you have unconditional admission to our 1-year Master's in Accountancy and Control. This Master's prepares you for a career in accountancy or financial management. The programme offers you a challenging combination of academic training and the application of international financial and reporting standards to complex real-life business cases. You will develop your intellectual skills and professional knowledge, and gain the latest insights to take with you to your first employer.

Finance
After finishing your Bachelor's in Business Administration with a specialisation in Finance, you can continue with the Master's in Finance. During this programme, you will gain a deep understanding of financial decision-making and markets. We will train you in a broad range of skills to take with you to your first employer. You can choose one of our 6 tracks, for instance asset management, corporate finance or banking, and focus on the field that interests you most.

Business Administration
Did you take the specialisation The Future of Management and AI, or Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity? And are you ambitious as well as entrepreneurial and do you have a global mindset? The Master's in Business Administration offers you the knowledge and skills to start your international career in business. You can choose from 9 tracks in this Master's, such as digital marketing, management of international business and trade or leadership and management, to specialise or broaden your education.

Entrepreneurship (joint degree VU and UvA)
With all specialisations of the Bachelor's in Business Administration, you can continue with the Master's in Entrepreneurship. During this Master’s programme, you learn how to turn opportunities into action. Thinking and feeling like an entrepreneur benefits your career as an employee or business owner. This is a joint degree of the 2 large Amsterdam universities, VU Amsterdam and the UvA.
Did you take a minor in a specific discipline during your Bachelor's? If so, you may be eligible for admission to the Master's programmes relating to that discipline. For some of these, certain admission requirements apply.

Where do our graduates work?
There are many possibilities. The Bachelor's in Business Administration is a great step towards your first job or a follow-on Master's programme. The majority of our Bachelor's graduates choose to continue their studies with a Master's programme. By further specialising, you increase your chances in the job market.

Professional development and career preparation during your Bachelor’s
The Economics and Business Career Centre (EBCC) offers advice and support for your professional development. From the 1st year of your Bachelor’s, you can reach out to the EBCC for:
- personal advice on your study and career choices (e.g. added value of a Master’s);
- developing professional skills and gaining practical experience (internship, study-related secondary job);
- preparing for the Dutch labour market.
Your skills and experiences are essential in today’s rapidly changing job market. With the EBCC's support, you will be ready to start your career with confidence after graduation.
The EBCC and the study associations often organise career events. Here you can expand your network with professional contacts and learn about the latest developments in the field.
Internship and exchange
During or after your studies, you can do an internship or go on an exchange abroad. For international students, an internship is a good way to experience the Dutch labour market.

What are the career prospects for graduates of the Bachelor’s in Business Administration?
The Bachelor’s in Business Administration prepares you for a wide range of careers in business and related fields. Possible roles include (online) marketer, product manager, account manager, HR adviser, management consultant, strategist, accountant, controller or financial adviser. You may also choose to start your own business.
Many graduates continue with a Master’s programme to specialise further and strengthen their position in the job market. Graduates work in a variety of organisations, including multinationals, banks, consulting firms, accounting firms, government institutions and creative agencies, or start their own business.

Can I start my own business after the Bachelor’s in Business Administration?
Yes. The Bachelor’s in Business Administration provides a foundation for starting your own business. You learn about areas such as strategy, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship and digital business. In the 2nd year, you work on a real-life business case in which you develop a plan for setting up your own business.
You can also further develop your entrepreneurial knowledge through electives and even start your own business under the supervision of our staff in our minor Entrepreneurship.

Can I start my career after a Bachelor’s degree, or do I need a Master’s degree?
The Bachelor’s in Business Administration prepares you for both a first job and a Master’s programme. However, most graduates in the Netherlands and other European countries continue with a Master’s programme to gain more specialised knowledge and further improve their opportunities in the job market. Depending on your Bachelor’s specialisation, you may have unconditional access to one or more related UvA Master’s programmes, including the Master’s in Accountancy and Control, Finance, Business Administration and Entrepreneurship.

Will AI replace jobs in business, consulting and finance, or create new ones?
AI may replace some repetitive jobs in business through automation, but above all it will transform business roles rather than eliminate them. At the same time, AI also creates new jobs in areas such as AI consulting, AI governance and technology management.

Will there be networking events where I can meet potential employers?
Sefa, the general study association for all Faculty of Economics and Business students, as well as our more specialised study associations in the fields of marketing (MAA) and finance (FSA), organise several online and offline career events a year, where you can meet potential employers. In addition, there are regular guest lectures for you to attend, hosted by businesses and government organisations.
