Professor of Learnability Enoch Aboh has been elected Honorary Member of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA).

Enoch Aboh has been professor at the University of Amsterdam since 2012 and was appointed director of the Amsterdam Center for Language and Communication (ACLC) in 2019. He investigates the learnability of human languages, with a special focus on syntax, language creation and language change.

Each year, the LSA elects a small number of Honorary Members: linguistic scholars who have demonstrated scholarly excellence and have had a notable history of impact on the field. Among them is also UvA professor Paul Boersma.

The LSA was founded in 1924 to advance the scientific study of language and its applications. It plays a critical role in supporting and disseminating linguistic scholarship to professional linguists and to the general public.
