Political, legal, scientific and medical interactions are increasingly being characterized by verbal attacks on the opposing party, partly due to the historically high levels of mistrust in others holding different opinions. This workshop brings together scholars concerned with the study of argumentation in context and conversation analysts to identify, interpret and potentially propose how to ameliorate attack-defense discussions in various communicative practices.
